Flashes of Hope is Back
I have been photographing children, families, weddings and seniors for many years now, I never get tired of it. For the past 12 years I have been able to give back through my Indianapolis charity, 'Flashes of Hope' where I photograph children stricken with cancer and provide the families with all the images at no charge. It's one of the few charities where we get to come in contact with the very kids we're trying to help. Of course for the past 2 & 1/2 years no volunteer has been allowed in the hospital cuz of some dumb virus, but guess what???
Flashes of Hope is back!!! It's been 2 1/2 years since we've been to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, November 2019 to be exact. Imagine your child has cancer or maybe your child is autistic, maybe blind. Now imagine your child checks all those boxes, if so his name is Xander and he's 4 & 1/2. Our first official shoot is in September, Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, but today I headed to PMCH on a solo mission to meet him and capture his adorable face through the lens of my camera. He responds well to music therapy so there were a lot of sounds and singing thanks to his amazing music therapist. I had the blessing of his mom to post these photos and I can't thank the doctors, nurses, Child Life Specialists and the entire staff at the PMCH oncology/hemoc unit for their encouragement and support. Please look at image #5, I call it "I picked this one for you".
